From the humble beginnings of a small handful of "wannabe cricket player" dads watching their kids train at the Ceylon Sports Club, Falcons CC is now one of the, if not the biggest independent cricket club in Singapore with over 100 members.

Since its establishment in late 2013, the club has achieved 5 promotions in the SCA League rising from Division 6 in its first year to Division 3 and also winning 4 championship trophies, easily making it one of the most successful cricket clubs in Singapore.

The Club is not just about winning trophies and promotions however, but is also one of the most diverse clubs in Singapore. Our members range from senior corporate managers and professionals from banking to IT to other industries to students from top universities and migrant workers. The club membership is open to all as long as they fit the club ethos.

The club plays both, social and competitive cricket which allows members of all ages and skills to enjoy playing the game they love in the setting they prefer - making Falcons one of a very small handful that does so. In 2019, the club played as many as 84 games, 66 of which were competitive and the rest social friendlies.

The club is supported by strong corporate sponsors (Myra’s, Sonnamera, Food ‘n’ Wellness and Harry’s) that ensures the club is always on a sound financial footing for the long term and not simply reliant on and under the control of one, two or even a handful of individuals.

OUR HISTORY

2013

The club was established in November 2013 by a small group (5 maybe 6!) of dads merely watching their kids play cricket and thinking they could do better! The idea was to play social friendly games on an ad hoc basis as and when possible. A handful of friendlies in 2013 led to the formal establishment of the club in January 2014 and its admission in to the Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) Division 6 league for the 2014 season.

2014

The 2014 season was largely forgettable for achievements on the field but helped the club find its feet and expand its pool of players beyond what was a “dads army” to a wider group that promised much for the seasons ahead.

2015

Indeed, the 2015 season was a watershed and landmark year for the club as the club finished second in the SCA Division 6 championship and achieved promotion to Division 5.

2016

Building on the success of the 2015 season, the 2016 saw a huge influx of new players both young and senior as the club’s popularity further increased thanks to its success on the field and the club membership ballooned from a mere 30 in 2015 to 75 in 2016. Given the large influx of members, 2016 was a year of consolidation for the club as it consolidated its position in the SCA Division 5 league and also introduced a second team into the SCA Division 6 league to accommodate its increased membership. It was also the first season when the club started to play social cricket for beers and laughs in tandem with competitive cricket.

2017

2017 saw the club’s membership membership grow to over 90 members and was a year in which the club achieved yet another promotion as its SCA Division 5 team finished 2nd and was promoted to Division 4. 2017 was also the club’s first year in the Masters League (for players over 40 years) and the club achieved the dubious honor of finishing with the wooden spoon with 5 resounding losses and no wins as the team focused more on the fun and less on the competitive aspects of the league.

2018

The next 2 years were years of high achievement for the club as it went from strength to strength in terms of its membership as well as achievements on and off the field. In 2018, its SCA Division 6 team created history  by winning 13 of its 14 games (with one game washed out with the team a few balls away from yet another resounding win), garnering 116 pts and finishing as unbeaten champions of the division. The Division 4 team finished 4th and narrowly missed out on promotion to Division 3. By now the club was also participating in 2 other competitive leagues – the privately run Seasoned Pro 30  and Cage 30 leagues and in total had 6 competitive teams besides also playing social cricket. One of its teams in the Cage 30 tournament finished unbeaten atop its group and qualified for the knockouts (IPL style) to be played in 2019. The Masters League team finished one better than in 2017 by securing a maiden win and finishing in 5th position (out of 6 teams) – a small yet significant improvement that boded well for the future.

2019

The club well and truly peaked in 2019 by achieving a historic treble - winning 3 trophies as Champions! The SCA Division 4 team put aside its disappointment from the previous year to finish top of the division as champions and was promoted to Division 3, the Cage team from 2018 won its knockouts in style to be crowned champions and the perennial bottom feeders – the Masters League seniors had a storming year winning all its games resoundingly to topple the formidable and 5 years in a row winners, Singapore Cricket Club. To top it all, the newly promoted SCA Division 5 team finished 4th and was also promoted to Division 4. And finally, the Cage Division 1 team performed very creditably in an extremely tough competition to finish 2nd capping a fabulous year for the club.

2020

2020 promises to be a challenging yet exciting year for the club with 2 promoted teams in the SCA League, a new 3rd SCA team in a highly competitive Division 6, the Masters League Seniors defending their trophy and new SCA and Cage captains and management at the helm as the club looks to the future to keep itself fresh and suitably fortified to aim even higher!
